Just a quick update on some stuff I'm doing, I got myself a new "baby" server. A HP ProLiant Athlon II Neo N36L MicroServer.
It's a small machine packing a Dual core AMD CPU and 1GB of DDR3 RAM. What attracted me to it was it's 4 hot swap SATA bays and it's size. (This is the first ever AMD machine I've bought / run)
I run 3 main machines, 1 being my machine and the other two being "servers". My current Windows server has a bad board (runs way too hot) so that was pissing me off. With the addition of this I'll have 3 half decent / newish machines that should see me for a while. (I'll add the old win server to my pile of parts)
It supports 8TB (4x 2TB), I'm in the process of getting my RAID1 (2x 1TB) set back up then I'm going to add a 500GB as a standalone storage drive.
One thing I've noticed, there's no Audio port on there, or PS2 support (no biggie really).
The drive caddies are a little flimsy, (but aren't they all!) I've not even had this thing apart yet! Just unpackaged it, got my drives in and turned it on. (think i'm losing my touch :unhappy I normally have everything apart.) It's also got a nicely situated internal USB port where I've got my FreeNAS pen drive. All that's attached now is power and an ethernet cable.
Here's some pretty pictures to look at.
This is the door, where you can find an alan key of sorts and your HDD caddie screws.
It came with a 250GB that I've just pulled out of it.
You can find out more than you need to know on HPs website.
