Thinking of installing..

I have indeed wiped my dual XP and 'buntu install for the shame of Windows 7. Unfortunately, In my line of work I'm not working with Linux, it's very much Windows to the core.

If it's any consolation, It is what it is, and that's... I miss the days where I would build a working machine from two or three and then start playing, installing, configuring. I'm even scraping my old 2in1PC mod in favour of a flashy new server.

What the fuck is happening?
Pack3t has been:quiet.... I know the forum lacks that certain hard kick in the jaw if I am not active.

Judging on your studies(which you always seem to make TUT fodder for EVERYTHING you ever learn) I would say you have been pressured to use Windows because you still don't know it well enough yet. Majority of people will say because they use Windows they know it but in fact most don't have a shade of a clue what is really making it all tick in the background. For you realizing that and doing something about it, good for you. If you are going through all the trouble of putting 7 on there you WILL fuck it up, it is only a matter of time between your tinkering, porn site visits, the inherent instability of Microsoft OS's over time and fate. Perhaps you will finally become a master troubleshooter and quit ducking out early on a BSOD :whistle.

I have recommended the book to others but read Windows Internals by Mark Russinovich. It is the end all be all. Also learn to use the sysinternals suite written by the same name. If you are running/supporting a Windows based network it is an invaluable tool to save you time.

Not having a linux box is still crazy. No network admin should be without *nix. If you ever find yourself in a position that YOU get to make any decisions you might want to remember that. Good luck with whatever it is you are pursuing regardless.

Trolls are the last thing you need to be concerned with.
