Firstly go on settings then about and scroll down until you see model, if it is an MC model then the jailbreak will be tethered, this means every time the ipod is turned off you have to re-jailbreak, if its an MB then you are fine.
Okay check your firmware in itunes, if its 3.1.2 go on my other tut, if its 3.1.3 carry on reading - If its neither then download 3.1.2 from here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OYX1RLXG&f=...store.ipsw)
Download redsn0w 0.94 from here (http://rapidshare.com/files/345102412/re..._0.9.4.zip)
Okay once you have got 3.1.2 save it to your desktop and save it to another folder that is easily accessible.
Right plug in your ipod and then hold down shift and click restore, browse to your 3.1.2 firmware and select it then click okay.
Once it has installed dont bother adding content to your ipod, just set it up as a new ipod.
Now click update on itunes and it will update to firmware 3.1.3.
Once all that has been installed etc run redsn0w and click browse, then select the firmware 3.1.2 you downloaded, then click next and make sure the only box ticked is install cydia, if it is click next, then follow the onscreen instructions and then the rest is done on your ipod.
