large EMP device
#1
In short I am aiming to build a directional EMP device. Why? Cause firstly that is what I shall study for my A2 coursework (how voltage and current affect electro magnetic interation within a solenoid)
And cause I'm sick of hearing crappy music being played off peoples phones at the back of buses
Its not my fault if my emp device wipes all their electrical data (bad news if they have a pacemaker xD)
But no, I shall shortly be writing a tutorial with schematics (albeit probably hand drawn) for a larger EMP, you have a choice of three (and I shall only do one)
12v diectional EMP (about 3 metres max)
30v directional EMP (6-7 meters max)
Or my fav - 240v EMP 'bomb' capable of stopping hearts if you are 3 meters or closer. (WARNING: seeing as it is veeery dangerous I shall bbe missing out important parts so you don't actually build one as this is merely for educational purposes only.)

I'd say either 12v or the 30v's then. What's the overall size of the finished device? And it can really shut the chavs on the back of the bus up?

Washing machine motor
Bowl lined with tin foil
230V power supply

...Homemade directional EMP, just needs a lot of insulating so you don't kill yourself when switching it on and off Smile

In all seriousness though, electromagnets do interest me, especially as I have stupid bloodflow problems... so the 12v would be interesting to know about (especially if it's portable)

How directional is directional ?
That could affect my choice Tongue I think 30v will probably be top choice. I have thought about one of these devices, but never had the knowledge to build one. So I will give it a crack if you post everything.

right, the 240v is not exactly portable. its about a meter by a meter big [give or take]
the 30v is about the size of a very thick baseball bat
and the 12v is the size of a maglite pro torch [the larger ones, mind]
you can have directional in two ways:
spot direction where you use a parabolic disk to reflect the item back into itself making a point of focus
or a slit, where you can control whether it passes over the X axis or the Y axis

btw. im kinda a mad physicist :thumbs

Basically you use the 12v for wiping computers at close[ish] range
you use the 30v for taking out targets from a distance
and the 240v to kill all electrical devices within a corporate building as the range on that [according to maths] is infinite, but in actuality due to the environment about 300 400 meters? ive never fully used the one i had built as it nearly killed me a few times :S

Yay, NDEs FTW. Give me the schematics for the 240v. Now
They see me trollin', they hatin'.

My 240V one wins, it doesn't kill people (just computers) Smile

I vote we build a 240V, and head to the Apple R&D department Big Grin

It would be interesting to see the schematics for a 12v or 30v EMP, I would say the 12v is the best as it is the best to be portable Smile Would you post schematics for a 12v EMP?

I'd say the 12v due to portability.
