Owning spammers! How to easily "JUNK" threads

Spammers. I know people and places that have had big problems with spammers, and up until now they were moving threads manually and editing etc which takes a lot of time. Especially when you're running solo.

Here's how to set up a new Moderator tool and use it effectively. I'll also run through the settings you can use. In this example we will be creating a "New thread tool". (In MyBB)

Steps
  • ACP
  • Configuration
  • Moderator Tools
  • Add New Thread Tool

Here's what you're presented with

After reviewing all of this writing looks a little confusing so you can just skip it and view the image at the bottom then refer back later!

What would this be useful for?

Well, here on mcompute i have a separate category called "JUNK" under the administrator section, this is the place i move all of the crap to, instead of deleting it. I don't delete it as it may have been junked by accident then it can be restored. Also, it's part of my future plans. :whistle

So here's my set up:

If you want, you can add a new reply, it'll look similar to below. Just enter whatever you want into the text box and that's what it'll display.
In the end i didn't opt for it as I am the only person that can see the Junk forum so a reply isn't necessary.

I *think* that pretty much covers it. mcompute is growing and becoming better day by day as i search for more ways to improve and start playing with tools.

OK, I have it set up. How do i use it??

So now that you have it set up and enabled, here's how you put it to good use.

1) Select the thread that you want to "JUNK" aka by ticking it.

2) Go down to your Inline Moderator tools, (bottom of the page) and select Junk, (or whatever you called it), under Custom Tools. Once you've selected it, hit "Go"

3) Job done. Now.. What does it do and look like?

Notes
If you decide to use a thread prefix, make sure it's available in ALL forums! And for your user group otherwise, it won't work.
