How to enable remote registry using group policy (GPO)

By default remote registry is disabled in Windows Vista onwards.

On your server
1) Check in Active Directory (AD) which OU the computers are in, if it's a SBS they'll be in SBSComputers
2) Open Group Policy Management right click the appropriate OU and select "Create a GPO in this domain and link it hereā€¦."
Name: Enable Remote Registry
Source Starter GPO: (none)
3) Right click, edit
Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > System Services
In the right hand pane locate "Remote Registry".
Double Click - Define the policy, and set the start up type to automatic.

Once all computers have rebooted the Remote Registry Service will be started.
